It probably won’t be that bad this year, it’s next year you really have to worry about! Danny and Ro graduate this year, which means that Slate will be let loose! I’m sure you’ll be able to handle it, Uncle Artie. College is fun! I’m really enjoying it. I should be done with my bachelors after this semester and then it’s off to get my masters. I’m pretty excited!

Oh dear. Well, I have my ways of dealing with Slate so here’s to hoping I don’t get any more gray hairs added to the collection because of him. Good, that’s great to hear. I remember my own college days and how fun they were. It all seems like ages ago now though.

Have no fear, HeadmArtster is here. I’m thinking of changing that to my letter head, it’s got a ring to it. Anyway, this boy that Ral’s gone after seems to be a bit of trouble. Maybe you should give me the address of this diner so I can go take a look at him myself. Till then I’ll talk to Ral and see what I can get out of her or talk into her. Maybe she’ll respond better to hearing from Emma that this boy’s not good for her? Her and Em are pretty close after all, it might work. Either way, I’ve completely got this, Car. Just a reminder that classes start tomorrow 8am sharp for first to fourth years and depending on your schedule if you’re a fifth to seventh year. Once again if you have not picked up your schedules they will be available at the main hall till tomorrow afternoon and after that, at my office. Staff and faculty members you are advised to have your lesson plan up and ready by tomorrow morning and rough semester plans at my desk by the end of the week. I wish a good day to staff and students alike. I look forward to seeing you all get down and busy come tomorrow.

Maybe you should just not do anything that involves danger and being away all together and go on an adventure around the world with me and occasionally live in a hobbit hole when we’re not traveling.

Perfect. Ah, well they haven’t been all that bad, but then again it’s only the beginning of the year. I’m quite terrified and amused all at once to see how they do this year. I’m good, I’ve been fairly busy getting things together for this year and trying to give Em and Alex the time of day as well. All these years later and I’m still not quite used to being a headmaster. I don’t know about all that. I’m good at Ancient Runes and Arithmancy— wow, I sound like a nerd— and after that it all kind of falls apart.

Not all the time. Usually the main characters end up being adorable, awkward dorks that save the girl of their dreams from winding up with jerks and end up being with her in the end. You’re like that kind of movie-except real.

Hey, being a nerd isn’t so bad. You’re strong, you like adventure, you like helping people. You could always become an auror, you know. You’d make a great one.

We went to Ireland, as well, obviously. Dad wanted to go see nana and his sisters. We stayed there for a while and then we went to Germany so we could check the other side of dad’s family. My cousin went to jail again because he danced naked on a bar and dad had to take him out of it because my great-aunt said she wouldn’t. It was a mess, really. Cael and Casey are bickering as usual. They act like kids all the time!

Sounds like you had a rather eventful summer. Ireland for us consisted mostly of sightseeing, watching the stars and picnics with gran but you seem to have had a whole different kind of fun. As usual, of course. Still, I miss them, especially Cael. He’s such a cutie, he is. Uncle Em and Oz are doing good too, I hope? Daddy’s been meaning to go visit you guys for the longest but headmaster duties and all, you know? Keeps him real busy.

Good for the most part. Aside from the massive family gatherings the dads decided a vacation to Ireland to visit papa’s family would be nice so we did that. It was cold and cloudy for the most part, but I got to see gran so that was nice. How about you? How are Cael and Casey doing? I haven’t seen them around yet.

Dad has been doing it for years without too many accidents! He was only in the hospital that one time and not even for very long! Besides, it’s an interesting job. And really, dad has been saying I need to get it figured out.

Right, and they keep talking about that beach house that they have but have never showed us. Yeah, but almost isn’t as good as the original, right? Why take almost when I can just have you?

Roane has no backbone when it comes to dad. So, if dad keeps pushing the curse breaker thing on him he’ll eventually just go with it. Ro probably wants to be a healer or some boring shit like that.

I should hope he doesn’t just do what Car tells him to do. That would be very unfortunate. It isn’t very nice doing what you don’t love. And what about you, Slate? What are you looking into in the future?

Yup. Dad has been sort of putting on the pressure for Ro to get into the cursebreaking business. And while Ro does actually like it, I don’t think it’s what he really wants to do for the rest of his life. But he’s too much of a pansy bitch to say so. So, looks like his future is set.
